I am a died in the wool curdasian..........all curd experiences run together in a beautiful cheese haze,
EXCEPT the last. You will not believe that on our last quick trip to Wis., we most mistakenly stopped at a cheese casa and asked for cheese curds and they had NONE. What was even worse was they said, "Oh, no," in a way that implied that cheese curds were not something to be treasured but scorned. I was devastated..............................

I used to live in Wisconsin and have many memories of my favorite food...cheese curds! However, my favorite story is as follows: I was in Las Vegas with my sister and brother in law and we are in a hotel room chit chatting with fellow clients and co-workers of my brother-in-laws and one of the snacks were cheese curds. I sat in the same set for hours eating cheese curds and listening to the squeek. After I had finished every last one, I wanted more....I can never get sick of them!

The first time I ate a cheese curd was when I went to Wisconsin to visit my friend Tiffany, we went to the Rudolph Cheese Factory in Wisconsin Rapids. They were AMAZING!! It was a 12hr drive for me to get to taste them but they were well worth it!

I grew up on cheese curds from Wisconsin Dairy State Cheese in Rudolph, WI. My father would take my older sister and I to the factory. The retail area was MUCH smaller than it is today, and there was a doorway that led into the factory. The cheesemakers always seemed to bring a handful of fresh, warm, squeaky curds to any of the kids that were there.
My parents and siblings still live in the area, and every time I visit, I have to make a trip to the cheese factory for those little bites of heaven. Nothing reminds me of home more than the curds.

I love dairy, anything from a cow, I love it! But curds are my favorite, they are the cats meow, and an outrageous explosion of Wisconsin pride, warm cheese and delight in my mouth. My mom's favorite story to tell is on my 3rd birthday I didn't want any cake, I just wanted a huge cheese curd! When I didn't get my wish I started to scream and cry until my dad went out and got me a fresh batch. I've loved curds my whole life, and my roommates just don’t understand! Any suggestions how I can turn these non-believers?

I remember my first curd like it was yesterday. Growing up in Madison I to remember going to the farmmers market and buying a pack and eating them all day and then getting sick on them. Then I was parted from the cheese and moved to Jersey. Now I live in Philly sooooo far away from the cheesy goodness it's hard for me to get back to my "roots". but yes, I have been back and I don't leave without at least 5 or 6 lbs of the stuff because it is my childhood.

I love Cheese Curds! Growing up in Madison, I had a blast going to the Farmers' Market every Saturday. When I was a small boy I used to fill my belly with all the awesome-delicious cheese from the different dairies and farms. My brother and I would eat free samples all morning until we thought we might BURST! Now that I am older I think I love cheese curds EVEN MORE! Hopefully I will never grow tired of cheese curds because that would be bad. Still, my favorite thing to eat with cheese curds...MORE CHEESE CURDS!

I can well remember my first curd. My husband came home from a business trip and brought me back a happy. Living in Mississippi, I had never seen a cheese curd before and I was skeptical about the happy. I put one in my mouth and bit down on it. Squeak!! The more I chewed the more it squeaked. The flavor was divine and that texture so unique. I was hooked on cheese curds.

We'd go buy fresh curds bright and early every Saturday morning when I was growing up. I don't think the bag ever made it all the way home.

We still go get curds and sausage every Saturday morning when I get home to visit my mom. Great memories!

My first curds were fried at the MN State Fair. But my first fresh curds were in Wisconsin during a cross-country trip. Heavenly squeaky cheese! We stopped at dairies across the state to replenish our curd supply. My most recent curd experience was in Sonoma County. VERY disappointing! The dairyman explained that CA health code requires them to refrigerate, destroying the whole curd experience as far as I’m concerned. When I visit my brother in Minne (next year after his twins are born), I’m hopping across the border to a Wisconsin dairy for some truly fresh curd and some butter jack! Mmmmm
